New York and Singapore have become the most expensive cities in the world to live in 2022. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) said in a Dec. 1 study.
Second place in the ranking went to Israel’s Tel Aviv, which topped the list last year. The third city was Hong Kong, China.
Los Angeles (USA), Zurich and Geneva (Switzerland), San Francisco (USA), Paris (France), Copenhagen (Denmark) and Sydney (Australia) are also in the top ten.
Moscow is 37th and St. Petersburg is 73rd. The last place in the ranking, 172nd, was taken by the Syrian capital Damascus.
It is noted that the price increase in 172 cities included in the survey was the highest in the past 20 years. Gasoline, food, utilities and household goods rose the most, reports “Gazeta.Ru”.
In mid-September, the company Henley & Partners released a ranking of cities with the highest number of wealthy people. Thus, the top five list includes: New York, Tokyo, San Francisco, London and Singapore. Also among the richest cities in the world: Sydney, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Toronto, Zurich, Seoul, Melbourne, Dallas and Fort Worth, Geneva and Paris.
According to experts from New World Wealth, the mass of wealthy residents of Dubai, Mumbai and Shenzhen is growing so fast that by 2030 these cities will also be among the top 20 richest cities on the planet.
